The Plastiki, a unique 18.5m catamaran made from 12,500 recycled plastic bottles and a recyclable material called Seretex, arrived in Sydney Harbour on Monday 26 July 2010 after sailing more than 8000 nautical miles from San Francisco. Environmental group Adventure Ecology organised the voyage, which began on 20 March 2010, to draw attention to the issue of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans and ways to beat waste.
