Lifejacket reforms to start in Nov 2010   Clean, Safe Wharves initiatives   Operation Cold Water   Better Boating applications

New lifejacket rules to improve boating safety and reduce deaths from drowning will come into effect from 1 November 2010.

Ports and waterways Minister Paul McLeay launched NSW Maritime's Clean, Safe Wharves initiative on 17 June 2010.

The risk of cold water boating, particularly hypothermia, is an issue for boaters all through winter.

Applications for grants sharing in $5 million under NSW Maritime's Better Boating Program in 2010/11 are open until 6 August 2010.
